This book shows how this value-oriented local development can be tackled. The inspiration for the experiences described in the book was the Upper Austrian municipality of Steinbach an der Steyr. After an economic and social collapse, Karl Sieghartsleitner, who was elected mayor in 1986, succeeded in instilling new hope for value-oriented village development in the frustrated residents of the village. This led to the emergence of a vibrant village community from the ruins of the village, which resulted in Steinbach being awarded the European Village Renewal Prize in 1994. Sieghartsleitner says in retrospect: "Value-oriented local development is not a luxury project for idealists, but the optimal use of human and financial resources to achieve a better quality of life for all." A church history and theological section shows how central values for local development can be justified, what the church has contributed to the development of our communities in the past, and how it could become an important source of inspiration for value-oriented local developments today.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0940/4117/8442/files/WenndieBevoelkerungdasDorfentdeckt.webp?v=1772383332
oberdiessbach-so-haben-wirs-gesehen-so-haben-sies-erlebt
Oberdiessbach / Our perspective - their experience

To ensure the historical documents would reach a wider audience, Peter Vogel agreed to publish the book "Oberdiessbach. A new era began in 1647 with Albrecht von Wattenwyl (1617–1671), who had grown rich in the service of the French king and purchased the lordship. After an intensive planning phase, he commissioned the architect Jonas Favre to build the highly representative New Castle between 1668–70, which his great-nephew Niklaus luxuriously furnished. Following a French model, it was designed as an open country estate, a first in Switzerland, and extends grandly into the surrounding landscape. Facades, staircase, room distribution, and furnishings meet new aristocratic requirements. In many respects, the castle is the initial building for the Baroque secular architecture of the leading stratum in the Ancien Régime. Sigmund and Martine v.
